We’re hitting the streets to raise money for the Citywise ‘Heroes Academy’ summer projects. Help us keep our popular holiday club free for those who need it most!
The government used to fund summer holiday clubs that help disadvantaged young people transition from primary to secondary school. The funding stopped in 2015 so last year we faced the challenge of raising the funds ourselves. The 40 Citywise Gazelles who took to the streets of Manchester in May 2016 raised almost £10,000 between them.
This year we’re raising the bar and aiming to fund places for 100 children in Manchester and Glasgow. That’s a grand total of £20,000, but this year we have back up! Team Glasgow are taking a group of 40 runners to the Great Edinburgh Run in April, and Team Manchester will be recruiting another 40 runners for the Great Manchester Run in May.
Why not join us by either signing up to run or sponsoring one of the team #thecityneedsheroes – could you be one?
Want to join the fun?
It doesn’t matter if you’re Mo Farah or a couch potato, if you can slog out the distance in anything under 24 hours you can join our elite squad! All Citywise Gazelles get:
- free entry to the race
- a dashing Citywise Gazelles running shirt
- all the food and drink you could need pre/post run
If you’d like to run for us, just fill out the form and we’ll get straight back to you with more information on how to register.
We set each runner the target of raising £250. We think that’s realistic for most people: it’s just 15-20 friends giving up to £20 each. You’ll be amazed at the generosity of your friends and family, and it’s exciting to battle the other Citywise Gazelles to be top fundraiser!
