Citywise Primary is a one-to-one mentoring programme for young people in primary school (Years 5 and 6) referred directly by the school, delivered in individual projects of up to 10 young people.
Young people and volunteers attend up to 20 weekly sessions, comprising of one hour of one-to-one academic and personal support and 30-60 minutes of fun activities, sometimes in groups.
All activities are based on our curriculum focusing on developing our competencies and character values. All sessions are run by a trained Citywise Project Leader. Volunteer mentors are trained in house, undergo DBS checks and are supervised by the Citywise Project Leader at the project. Mentors work with the same mentee each week for the duration of the project and where possible, mentee-mentor pairings are same sex.
Citywise Secondary is a one-to-one mentoring programme for secondary school pupils, delivered in individual projects of up to 20 young people (S1-S4 / Yr7-Yr9).
At each project homogenous groups of young people (eg S1 Boys, S3 Girls) attend up to 30 weekly 2 hour sessions during the school year in a local secondary school. At each session they take part in one hour of academic mentoring, working on Numeracy and Literacy tasks with their mentors. This is followed by one hour of a regular, structured, fun group activity (eg football, dance). All sessions are run by a trained Citywise staff member. Volunteer mentors are trained in house, undergo DBS checks and are supervised by Citywise staff at the project. Mentors work with the same mentee each week for the duration of the project.
