Running Jinin

Jinin is running the Great Edinburgh Run 2017!

Hiya! In the photo, I was running leisurely along the beach in Aberdaron a few summers ago… Soon, I will also be running – only it won’t be so leisurely, but in a city, and in spring (not winter thankfully).

On the 23rd of April, I and other Citywise mentors will be participating in the Great Edinburgh Run! (^o^)/

Since I’m not a runner I hesitated but, after some encouragement, I decided that I wanted to do more than just the weekly mentoring, and take this opportunity to fund-raise!

Citywise is an amazing mentoring charity for the remarkable but disadvantaged children in Glasgow and Manchester. We don’t mentor them on how to do their homework but how to build their character through four virtues: fairness, self-control, resilience and good judgement. I’ve been involved in Citywise since the first semester, and it’s an absolute privilege to be part of it!

The money will go towards the summer project which the government has stopped funding. It’s important to keep it free for the children who need it the most. The money raised at last year’s Great Manchester Run gave 120 young people access to the free holiday club. The play-based curriculum is designed to support their transition from primary to secondary school: learning in disguise as fun! We don’t just need superheros, but everyday heroes as well. #thecityneedsheroes

We’re raising funds for the Citywise ‘Heroes Academy’ summer projects. The money raised at last year’s Great Manchester Run gave 120 young people access to the free holiday club. The play-based curriculum is designed to support their transition from primary to secondary school: learning in disguise as fun! We use the theme of superheroes to help young people discover what it takes to become an everyday hero.  #thecityneedsheroes – could you be one?
