Lisa Ran Out of Excuses

Lisa is running the Great Edinburgh Run 2017!

Dear friends,

This will come as a surprise to all of you who know me and my, mildly put, lack of enthusiasm for anything athletic fairly well; but in late April this year I will be participating in the Great Edinburgh Run, a 5miler through Scotland’s hilly (!) capital.

After the initial shock has faded, some of you might now ask yourselves why I, of all people, am doing this and the answer is simple: because I am supporting a worthy cause.

I have been lucky enough to volunteer for Citywise since moving to Glasgow last year. It has been wonderful to support our mentees in their personal development and to experience their progress over the months. I truly believe that this charity is making a difference to many young people and I am thus willing to step out of my comfort zone to ensure more children can benefit from Citywise in the summer camps.

I, however, cannot do this alone, so please support me with your donation and help Citywise fund their summer projects.

We’re raising funds for the Citywise ‘Heroes Academy’ summer projects. The money raised at last year’s Great Manchester Run gave 120 young people access to the free holiday club. The play-based curriculum is designed to support their transition from primary to secondary school: learning in disguise as fun! We use the theme of superheroes to help young people discover what it takes to become an everyday hero.  #thecityneedsheroes – could you be one?
