Pete is running the Great Edinburgh Run 2017!
I’m not a runner. I tend to avoid running under most circumstances. But I’ve been working with Citywise, a great children’s charity, for over 6 months now, and when I heard that they were losing funding on their Summer programs, it’s given me the drive to dust off my old running shoes and run as part of the Great Edinburgh Run to help fundraise. Citywise is a great organisation that works alongside schools and helps young kids at primary/secondary school age with character building and one-on-one mentoring sessions on a weekly basis. It’s been a blast working alongside my fellow mentors and all the kids, watching them grow and learn more each day (both the kids AND the mentors). Therefore, mentors from Citywise are coming together to help raise funds to make sure this summer program can get up and running (pun intended). So any money, any amount will be greatly appreciated. It’s for a good cause. Cheers!
We’re raising funds for the Citywise ‘Heroes Academy’ summer projects. The money raised at last year’s Great Manchester Run gave 120 young people access to the free holiday club. The play-based curriculum is designed to support their transition from primary to secondary school: learning in disguise as fun! We use the theme of superheroes to help young people discover what it takes to become an everyday hero. #thecityneedsheroes – could you be one?
