All 120 children at Royston Primary School have joined Citywise’s campaign to improve the physical and mental health of children following lockdown.
At Citywise, we have recently launched our Bounce Back Challenge which is running throughout May 2021. Across the UK, supporters of our transformative mentoring programmes are embarking on sponsored exercise challenges to further the reach and impact of the charity’s work.
With a hub in the Townhead-Royston area, we work with primary schools in the city – including Royston Primary School – who have wholeheartedly supported the Bounce Back Challenge. 120 pupils at Royston are getting active for 30 minutes every day in May. The headteacher of the school, Ms Jane McShane says:
“Royston has been working with Citywise for some time, they are a breath of fresh air and bring energy and inspiration to the pupils involved in their mentoring programme! It is an excellent opportunity for pupils to extend and deepen their knowledge and understanding of the wider world whilst engaging with caring and compassionate individuals who work tirelessly to build strong relationships with our pupils.
Citywise’s current initiative Bounce Back is engaging all pupils in lots of fitness and exercise – hugely needed after a substantial period in lockdown! Pupils are enjoying this new and exciting initiative and can’t wait to see the medals at the end!”
The pupils at Royston are proud to know this will not only help boost their own wellbeing but champion the wellbeing of children across the UK. One Citywise mentor who has been working with the pupils at Royston said:
“The children have grown in confidence by being ambassadors for the Bounce Back Challenge. They have taken ownership and responsibility of the project, presented in front of other classes and are motivated to support a worthy cause.”
After a trying year of lockdown, hundreds of volunteers, supporters, pupils and families are grateful to be part of Bounce Back 2021.
