Volunteer with us in 2020/21

Welcome to Citywise! We’re so glad you are interested in volunteering with us!

We work with schools and families in some of the most disadvantaged areas of Glasgow and Manchester to help young people unlock their potential, flourish in all areas of their lives, and contribute positively to their communities.

At Citywise we offer young people personalised support within our school-based term time mentoring projects. We also involve parents in their child’s growth journey and offer after school groups, holiday clubs and family activities.

Can you volunteer a few hours each week to mentor a child for the academic year? You can be part of an amazing team of mentors managed by a Citywise staff member. You will get to know a group of children and provide 1:1 mentoring to one of them. This will follow our 7-stage character development curriculum.

In 2020/21, our mentoring programme will take the form of a blend of online and in-person work. Most of our projects will take place on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoon, but there will probably be other project days too! We also have exciting holiday activities that we run while children are out of school, the nearest ones being as early as October. With our unique character mentoring approach, you can equip young people with the skills they need to thrive, not just in school, but in all areas of life!

If you are interested in volunteering with us this year, you are in the right place! There are several stages to getting involved. First, join a Welcome Event! Here you will hear more about us and what is involved in becoming a Citywise mentor. You will also get a chance to meet our team and existing volunteers, who help us facilitate these events and are looking forward to chatting with you.

Join a Welcome Event to find out more:

Welcome Events take place in September and October every year. If you are applying after the above dates, you can still fill in the form without ticking an option, or fill in an application form and we’ll be in touch with you.

In order to volunteer with us, you will also need to fill in an application form. You can complete this after the Welcome Event if you still have questions about our work. If you already know you’d like to volunteer, you can fill this in straight away!

Once you have attended a Welcome Event and have completed a form, we will be in touch with you. Successful applicants will receive an email and be invited to a Training Event before beginning your mentoring journey with us!
